A random skate pic that I had, thought that I would put it up.

 

View from my Balconey

Took this last August (05) looking north off of my balconey. I live on the 20th floor of a highrise tower. 

My balconey last summer (Aug 05)

Taken from just inside my door showing my well planted balconey and one of my cats having a drink. I discovered that cats will drink alot more water if it is provided to them in a ceramic dish. Plastic dishes harbor a plastic smell that they don't like. 

Canadian SnowBirds

I took this from my balconey last summer (aug 05) when the snowbirds were in town practicing for an upcoming airshow. They were quite low and very fast. Skilled pilots they are to be able to fly like this. 

Demolition Equipment.

One of the giant machines that was used on demolishing the buildings, I know it as a high hoe. The operator was nearby having his lunch. 

Whitby Psyche Auditorium

Another pic looking east from what was the front lobby. All that is left at this point is the stage, and vandals graffitti. 

More of the Whitby Psyche Auditorium...

This is a view of the front enterance looking west. Vandals graffitti can be seen along with fire damage but it can still be seen that once this was a really well designed building. This was taken days before demolition. 

Auditorium Partly Gone...

Several days later this was all that was left, although the stage part didn't come down for about another month later. The demolition company doing the work got into hot water with the Ministry of Labour and work was halted for several months at this point. Toxic dust from the demolition of the buildings blowing into the nearby subdivision was part of it. Irionically the same people that squacked wanting the buildings torn down complained again when they finally did start tearing them down about dust and noise. I also believe that parties interested in preserving the old buildings were trying to halt the demolition, though by this time it was too late. They had years to try to preserve the buildings and probably would of succeeded if they had taken the initiative years ago before vandals destroyed all the buildings. I was told that the local town council was going to try to develop the buildings into something usefull, like a professional business park but when investers went to look at them they saw the damage and neglect and it was an embarrasment to the town officials who thus enraged had them slated for demolation. It didn't take them long to start demolishing them either once they decided on it. 

Whity Psyche Auditorium

The Whitby Psyche auditorium days before they started to knock it down. Unfortunatly I was unable to get any pics of the inside, although I have been inside this building before they fenced off the area. It was an impressive building in its day, and the skill of its builders showed even after years of abandonment and abuse by vandals.
